What is an SSD?
An SSD (or Solid State Drive) is a storage drive just like a hard drive. The big difference, however, is that an SSD is several times faster than a hard drive. A traditional old hard drive preserves data by writing it to spinning disks. An SSD does this by using non-moving chips (like a USB flash drive), which speeds up the read and write speed 10 times or more. The advantage of an SSD is that there are no moving parts. This promotes longevity, speed, energy consumption and also makes it noise-free.

What happens to your device?
Hardware
Your old hard drive will be replaced with an SSD. In desktop and tower computers, the old HDD can usually be retained for additional storage. You can choose to have your old HDD placed in a case so you can continue to use it as an external drive.
Software
If possible, we clone your old system to the new disk. This depends on the state of the old disk and the software. If it cannot be cloned then Windows, MacOS or Linux is installed fresh on the SSD with all the latest updates and drivers. Your programs and settings should be reinstalled with this option.
